Editing Slide Drafts
A Slide Draft is the editable stage before you create the final presentation file. Review the presentation structure and each page, make changes, save them, and then create the final presentation.
Start a Slide Draft
- Confirm that the sources for the notebook are ready.
- Select Slides in the Studio panel.
The generation options open in the Studio panel. Choose the theme and other options before creating the Draft.
- Configure the generation options, including theme, language, detail level, slide count, and image resolution.
- Start slide generation.
The resolution choices are shown in the Slide Draft generation settings. Select HD when a standard image size is sufficient.
Choose HD (1536×864) or 4K (3840×2160) for the image resolution. Generation settings such as resolution and theme cannot be changed after the Draft is created.
The 4K option is intended for higher-resolution slide images.
Slide generation settings open in a Slide Draft tab in the main chat area. Initial generation runs asynchronously, so you can move to another notebook task while it is processing. When it is ready, reopen the Draft from the Slide Draft list in Studio.
Open a Draft
Select a Draft from the Slide Draft list in Studio. The editor has three areas.
The left pane contains the page outline and is where you select the page to edit.
The center pane contains the fields for editing the selected page’s text and layout.
The right pane shows the current page image and its processing status.
The Draft list and preview show statuses such as generating, ready, error, and save required. A cancelled initial generation is not presented as an error and is removed from the list.
Edit pages
Select a page to edit its layout and content in the editor pane.
The layout field controls how the page content is composed. Freeform layouts are used by default so AI can choose a composition based on the content.
After changing slide content, the selected page shows an unsaved marker and the action changes from Generate presentation to Save changes. Save the Draft before generating the final presentation.
Edit the title, subtitle, and key message in the title fields.
Use the visual hint field to guide the image or visual treatment for the page.
Add speaker notes for the presenter. You can also edit body content, page order, and add or delete pages. Initial generation settings such as the theme, language, detail level, and image generation model cannot be changed while editing a page.
When you change a layout, fields that are not supported by the new layout are normalized automatically. To choose a layout yourself, open advanced layout selection and review the examples and descriptions before selecting one.
Save changes and update images
Page edits are not automatically saved to the server.
- Edit the text, layout, or order of one or more pages. The page shows an unsaved marker.
- Select Save or Save changes. The final presentation action is unavailable until the changes are saved.
- After the save succeeds, image generation starts for the affected pages.
- Check the progress in the preview pane.
Final presentation generation is unavailable while page changes are unsaved. It can also be unavailable while page image work is in progress. If a save fails, your local edits remain so you can try again.
Use the page regeneration action to retry a page with no image or a failed image. A previously successful image remains visible while you edit, and is replaced when a new image is ready.
Preview and create the final slides
Select a ready page image to inspect it at a larger size.
The preview pane shows the generated page image and provides the control for opening a larger preview.
The status below the image indicates whether the page is ready, generating, failed, or needs an update. Supported browsers open a Picture-in-Picture preview; other browsers use a responsive dialog preview. On mobile, the preview adapts to the available screen size.
After all page changes are saved and image work has finished, select Generate slides to create the final presentation. Once finalization starts, the Draft and its pages cannot be edited or deleted.
Delete a Draft or cancel generation
Deleting a Draft that is still in initial generation first requires confirmation through the cancellation flow. Ready or error Drafts can be deleted from the list. A Draft that is being finalized cannot be deleted.
Closing the Draft or moving to another task does not cancel a server-side generation job. You can return to the Slide Draft list in Studio to check its progress.
