Box Integration
Use the Box integration to import Box files as notebook sources and save supported generated files to Box. The connection is scoped to the current user and organization, so each user may need to authorize Box separately.
When to use it
- You want to use documents stored in Box as NotePie sources.
- You want to keep or share completed document-style content, slides, podcasts, or slide-based video files in Box.
- You need to check, reconnect, or disconnect your Box connection.
Connect and reconnect
If Box is not connected, or if reauthorization is required, NotePie guides you to the integrations management screen. After you approve access in the Box OAuth window, you can continue the original import or export action.
Connection data and tokens are managed by the NotePie backend. Token values are not shown in the UI. You can open integrations management from the user menu to review the Box status or disconnect it when needed.
Import Box files as sources
- Open the add source menu in a notebook.
- Select Box from the import menu.
- Connect or reconnect Box if NotePie asks you to.
- Choose files in the Box Content Picker.
- Wait until the import finishes and the source becomes available in the source panel.
Supported Box sources are PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, TXT, and Markdown files. You can browse folders in the Box Picker, but only supported files can be selected as sources.
The Picker filters supported extensions first, but NotePie still validates the downloaded file contents. If a file type is not supported or the file cannot be read, the source may not be created.
Imports are snapshots
A Box file is imported as a point-in-time snapshot, not as a live reference. If the original Box file changes later, the NotePie source is not updated automatically. Import the file again when you need the latest version.
Save generated content to Box
Supported generated files can be exported to Box after they are ready. Current Box export targets and file formats are:
| Generated content | Box file format |
|---|---|
| Study guide, blog post, briefing doc, concept comparison, executive summary, action plan, FAQ, and timeline | Markdown file (.md) |
| Slides and MCP slides | PowerPoint file (.pptx) |
| Podcast | Audio file (.mp3) |
| Slide-based video | Video file (.mp4) |
Exported files are saved directly to the user’s Box root. The current flow does not include a folder picker. When export succeeds, NotePie shows a link that opens the file in Box.
For outputs that are not yet Box export targets, such as mind maps, the Box action may be hidden or disabled. Use the download or copy options provided by each feature instead.
Things to check
- The notebook source limit also applies to sources imported from Box.
- When selecting multiple files in the Picker, keep the remaining source slots in mind.
- If you close or cancel the authorization window, the import or export action does not start.
- Confirm your organization policy before importing sensitive Box material into NotePie.
