Add a user MCP

  1. Select + → Add user MCP.
  2. Enter the server name and transport.
  3. For a remote server, enter its URL and authentication; for a local server, enter the command, arguments, and environment variables.
  4. Save and review authentication and connection status.
  5. Set the project scope.

Use settings from the server operator. Install any runtime required by a local server. Enter passwords or API keys in connection settings, not ordinary chat messages.

Set project scope

Under Available projects, choose Global or specific projects. Global makes the connection available across projects, worktrees, and tasks. With no valid project selected, tools may not appear.

Work with a connected service

  • Lingo: “Find today’s meeting record in connected Lingo and summarize the decisions.”
  • Google Calendar: “List this week’s events and identify open times.”
  • GitHub: “Find open issues in this repository related to login.”

For create, update, or delete actions, name the target and review step. Actual capabilities follow the MCP tools and connected-account permissions.

When an MCP tool returns a file or web link for you, a result card appears after the response is complete.

  • Select Open on a file card to download the file and preview it in Aru.
  • If a result contains several files, expand the list and choose the file you want.
  • On a web-link card, use the Open menu to choose the Aru browser or another installed browser.

Cards appear only for items the MCP server provides as Resource Links. If a file does not open, check the connection and current working folder, then try again.

Reauthenticate, disable, or delete

Reauthenticate expired connections. Disable connections you do not need temporarily. Before deletion, confirm the organization and name. If installation status is unknown, refresh before retrying the same installation.
