Side Chat and Mini Chat
Side Chat is a temporary conversation that uses the context of the current task. Mini Chat is a small separate window you can use while viewing another app.
| Feature | Use it when | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Side Chat | You want an explanation or another perspective on the current response. | It is temporary and is removed when closed or when the app exits. |
| Mini Chat | You want to start or review a task while viewing another app. | It runs in a separate window that can return to the main window. |
Open Side Chat
- Open the task whose conversation you want to reference.
- Open Side Chat in the right panel.
- Enter and send a question.
- Review the response.

Give me an example that shows the comparison basis used in the calculation you just described.
Pasting 5,000 or more characters in Side Chat automatically attaches the content as a text file. Hold Shift while pasting to keep it in the message body.
To carry the result back to the main task, summarize it in the main composer. If both conversations use the same project files, their file changes can affect each other.
Close Side Chat
Side Chat is temporary. Selecting Close Side Chat permanently removes that conversation, and quitting the app also clears temporary Side Chats.
Save anything important to a project file or the main task first. If Side Chat is unavailable, wait for the current response to finish and try again.
Use Mini Chat
- Open the Command Palette, search for New Mini Chat Window, and select it. On macOS, press βP, or use the assigned shortcut.
- Check the working location and model, then enter a request.
- Select Always on top to keep it above other windows.
- Select Open in main window to continue in the main Aru window.

File and service operations have the same effects in Mini Chat. Check the project and permission mode before sending. Change its shortcut under Settings.
