Files and terminalBrowse and preview

Browse and preview files

Use the Files panel to browse the current project or worktree. You can edit text files and open documents and images created by Aru.

Find and open a file

  1. Select a project and task.
  2. Open Files in the right panel.
  3. Expand folders or enter a name in Search files.
  4. Select a file to open it.

Files tab with search, folder tree, and a menu with Rename and Copy Path

Use Refresh if a newly created file is missing. Check the path when several files share a name. Result links may point to another project or worktree.

Edit and save text

Code, plain text, and Markdown files can be edited in Aru. If an editable file opens in preview, select Switch to edit mode.

Check whether the editor uses Autosave or Manual save. In manual mode, select Save file. If both you and Aru edit the same file, wait for Aru to finish and review its changes before editing.

Supported previews

FilePreview
Code and textRead and edit in the editor.
MarkdownSwitch between rendered preview and editing.
PDFBrowse pages in the document preview.
DOCX, XLSX, PPTXReview content in the Office preview.
ImagesReview in the image preview.

Rendered README.md with headings, lists, a code block, and preview controls

Office preview is for reviewing content. Layout, fonts, charts, and effects may differ from Microsoft Office, so check final files in the app you will use. To revise a document, see Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

For unsupported formats, use Open in default app. Large files may have limited preview support.

Create and manage files and folders

The file menu can offer New file, New folder, Rename, Copy path, and Delete, depending on the file and environment.

Deleting a project file is not the same as removing an attachment. Confirm the target name and save anything you need first. See Review changes to compare edits.
